Fashion Goals
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. How many times have you heard this? Even when you decide to "renovate" your wardrobe, you must have a plan. I set fashion goals like I set goals for life. Last year, my fashion goal was to increase my handbag collection and add more color. I now have 2 versions of yellow, a pink striped bag and quite a few others. This year, I vow to add things to my wardrobe that will carry me into many years to come. To accomplish this goal, I will do what many of you already know about. I will buy out of season and I will buy classic designs.

Typically, when you get into designs that are not trendy, you spend a little more but these items are well worth it and are not as costly as you may think if you purchase out of season. For example, one rule of fashion is to never wear white after Labor Day. Well, that's fine but there is no rule that says you can't buy white after Labor Day. Since this is a well known rule, whites are typically cheaper after this holiday. Also, I tend to buy sweaters as the weather gets warmer. The same with lined slacks and long sleeved shirts.
The savings on these items can be as high as 75% to 80%. I buy swim suits as the weather is cooling. The selections are obviously not as vast as during their peak season but there is always something great & reasonably priced available.
If you're like me and love designer shoes, they go on sale as well. My shopping buddy got a pair of Coach shoes for $35 that retailed during their peak season for significantly more! Check your local stores as the seasons change and you will find a host of deals. I also notice that the best sales always seem to take place on Sunday. My fashion goal for 2010 is to go shopping at least 1 Sunday afternoon of each month to increase the staples of my wardrobe. Create a fashion goal for yourself and find the joy of going shopping out of season. You'll save tons and your closet will thank you! Happy Shopping!
